..... Commitment ....... that was the theme of the conference this last week.
We are committed to lots of things - the big ones are human persons.
I sent a text to Joan and the Sheilas, Joy and Ann, after the bombs had hit our community on Thursday.
I just said;
"Love ya love ya - at times like these love becomes more real"
Who did you think of ....... telephone first?
I appreciate telephone calls from all over the world to me and the family ......... I will get back to you when I put my head back on. It is wonderful to know that you care and feel the pain as we do here, closer to the terrible crime scene. The scene of mass murder........
In the session I lead yesterday, I got the conference in fours and encouraged them to talk about 'who was the first person they thought of after the news of the bombs - and who did they phone first'.
Many there were not from the London region but there was a a wave of phoning home.
We just want to touch finger tips with our closest at these times.
It brings us back to base.
Priorities ..................
I believe it is important to talk about it. One little girl was angry, I was told, because nobody at school informed her about the national attack and damage to human life. She wanted to know - to be part of the sharing. Talk to humans around you and give others the chance ...... and me? .......... I am still overcome by tears when I see the TV or the images in the newspapers ............ Lord have Mercy .......
Today ................ me ............ I would have loved to have had a week-end of normality to reflect on the past week and the events. We have instead a tribe coming to stay ........... but that will be a delight.
These humans are 'level five' friends. We have been together for twenty five years come next month. Since 1980 we have met two or three times a year to just enjoy each other but also give each an hour to talk about the depth of life. Level five communication is about the road less travelled - being open and as honest as possible with each other. We are doing a seminar this year at the Greenbelt Festival. Just telling the story of our lives which are lived separately in different parts of the world and yet so close.
I want to explain better than this but I am suffering from in-articulation of the mind.
