voxholloway

Start: April 25, 2011 8:00 pm

Cost:£12 (£8 concessions)

Venue: St Luke's Church Hillmarton Road, Holloway, London, United Kingdom, N7 9RE

Vox Holloway, the voluntary choir directed by Greenbelt regular Justin Butcher, is celebrating Easter Monday with a performance of Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil, a beautiful collection of Russian Orthodox hymns and chants.

Starting as a collection of local people coming together to sing Handel's Messiah, Vox Holloway have grown and grown, raising over £20,000 for charity in the process. The All-Night Vigil by Rachmaninov has been described as "the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church", and Vox Holloway's performance of it is sure to round off Easter weekend in a suitably dramatic fashion!

The evening is taking place at St Luke's Church, nearest tube Caledonian Road. Tickets are £12 and £8 students/concessions – to reserve a seat please contact voxholloway@gmail.com.

Despite its name, the All-Night Vigil will only last an hour and twenty minutes. Bad luck, fans of choral endurance.
