It is increasingly recognised that developing emotional intelligence is a key part of helping children to become socially and educationally successful. In schools, this drive towards emotional literacy can be seen in the PSHE curriculum, the SEAL resource and the use of Circle Time in the classroom.

Through working with children and young people you know about the importance of their emotional literacy. Have you ever come into contact with children with low self-esteem and difficulty in expressing their emotions appropriately? This can create significant barriers to their learning and social interaction, often resulting in exclusion of one form or another – in both the classroom and the playground.

The Feelings Artbook is a creative and innovative resource for promoting emotional literacy through 48 fun, drawing based activities. Although many resources for working on emotional intelligence with children use pictures, the active part of learning still requires them to write. This is where The Feelings Artbook is different as every activity is all about children expressing their feelings through drawing.

The Feelings Artbook can be used by anyone with an interest in working with children on their emotional intelligence, including teachers, learning mentors, therapists and parents.
