YOUTH WORK - Back in the day Pip Wilson

GAMES WITHOUT FRONTIERS.

This was the second book of Games that was published. Great popular book. Sadly out of print now but would love to bring it back to life and circulation this year.
Watch for it - wicked games for fun and depth of purpose.

I didn't blog yesterday. I had a Greenbelt Board meeting and was out all day. Then a visit from a BHP !
Love that too.

This, below, is an out-take from a book I have found on my book shelves recently.
In it was a chapter about me. I was visited for one day by this guy who wrote stuff about me as I led my first ever full time Youth and Community Centre job. I was 33 when he visited.
As with everything I read about my past, written by others or myself, I see so much of my weaknesses and vulnerability. Often hidden behind the aggressive adrenaline charged self.
At the same time ALWAYS passionate about young humans and wholistic development.

I don't know whether Pip could live without the presures. He seems to thrive on it, and bursts with aggressive energy in the Club.
There are no real rules, for instance, except that if you do something that Pip' doesn't like, you will feel the rough edge of his temper.
He can't stand writing on the walls, and even swearing makes him angry.
But somehow the club retains its tough, masculine, aggressive atmosphere which makes even the toughest young rocker feel at home. 'I don't believe in banning anyone Pip tells me.
'Sometimes I lose my rag and we close up for the night, but I've never banned any one person.
I believe we are here to cope with the roughest youngster, and if I had to shut someone out, I would feel I had failed.
There is one place in the Club where we have a disco corner, with dim lights and lots of posters and colour.
Well, someone drew all over one of the posters the other night, and I was wild.
So I turned on the lights and stormed around for a bit.
But then they started collecting for the cost of the posters and I had £3 in no time.
Of course, all the leaders had to chip in, too, including me!
But we don't pick on individuals, and they seem to respond to that.'
