N o i s e

They say you’re available
on certain conditions.
Quiet ones.
That if I can find an air of tranquility
it carries that still small voice.

But I don’t do quiet,
stillness.
I am not tranquil except when I am asleep
and then I am not available
as far as I know.

So,
what's the chance of a still big voice
in the noise,
of hearing you in the roaring traffic,
the screaming meal-time,
the crowded train,
the supermarket queue,
the smoky, throbbing bar?

I know that time you weren’t
in the fire,
the storm.
But everyone’s different.
Maybe Elijah was better at quiet.

You’re usually quiet.
I’m usually wired.
If I try for your silence.
perhaps you could try for my noise.

Your place or mine?
I know they say you’re in
the country,
but maybe we could meet in town….......... "

"We all must hold the cups of our lives.
As we grow older
and become
more fully aware of the many sorrows of life

- personal failures,
- family conflicts,
- disappointments in work and
- social life,

and the many pains surrounding us
on the national and international scene -

- everything within and around us conspires to make us ignore,
avoid, suppress,
or simply deny those sorrows.

"Look at the sunny side of life and make the best of it,"
we say to ourselves and hear others say to us.
But when we want to drink the cups of our lives,
we need first to hold them,
to fully acknowledge what we are living,
trusting that by not avoiding but befriending our sorrow
we will discover the true joy we are looking for
right in the midst of our sorrows. "

London sweats

Perspiration pin stripes
commuting
I have been loving today.

Standing bodies
glad I am sitting
silent tube
silent train.

I pass the Olympic site
for 2012
Bulldozerville
in four years time
Sportsville
30 minutes from home!

I see a beautiful human
a young Moslem woman
Calvin Klien hi-jab
legs covered
face not
I am pleased to say.
Stylish outfit in black and white
Trad but Trendy
I love to see beauty
on view
but not flaunted.

Ali talked about his Islamic faith today
What a great man
Lucas, of Indian origin, talked about
his Catholic faith
so open-so beautiful.

When the adrenalin stopped
I felt exhausted
slept on my first underground train home.

BenjiB so beautiful

I like seeing the sun on a face.
Shafts through the window
falls on different humans around me
falls on the rich
falls on the poorest
the attractive and the worn.
Next time you see
a shaft of sun through a window
see where it highlights
imagine ....................

Asleep on the central line
woken regularly by my nodding head.
Felt some refreshment
as the train rolls through an urban landscape.
I regret every stop.
I am hot
You wouldn't like to be in my shoes.

Feeling expressive/reflective
clammy
yearning for home
I know I am beautiful
other feelings too.
My pen runs out
I use an inferior biro
not so creative.

I breathe deeply
air welcome
stale or not
much better than a flight.

I want to love
I live to love
I have decided
to make my life
an act of love.

I have walked an hour today
Big heavy backpack
Mactop
I would love a Lightmac.

Penultimate train stop
SMS to Joan
Train still rammed
I look forward to the walk home
breathing the fresh
see Joan
kiss
a meal
Life to be continued ........................

I am not a sad person,
I feel sadness sometimes,
I want to be in touch with 'sadness' feelings.
I am not a sad person.

Some humans,
who have a poor one-on-one relationship,
Look for companionship with others,
Sometimes trip up.
Compensational relationships.

Some humans are dependent on their parent(s),
Some humans are oppressed by their parent(s).
I met one person who was oppressed by her Mother,
and she had been dead for ten years.
Feeling like a child,
as an older human,
is not ok,
painful.

Some humans**,
cannot speak feeling words.
They get lost in Clicheville,
they are out of touch with their own precious goldmine -
called feelings.
Meanwhile, the feelings get on with controlling behaviour,
and we tag along 'feeling-inarticulate'.
** A lot of humans.

hello from a place called tired.
I am here blogging about nothing.
Because my head is empty.
Been a doing bits and bobs and trying to catch up with real life.

Danabeautiful, from Canada, is here with us and she is partaking in her last day. So I met her in town at 4 ........ she had spent all day walking.
So we went for an afternoon tea without the butties but with a big pot of peppermint tea. fantastic.
We went to the Wolsely which is a fab restaurant on Piccadilly in central London. We started with a glass of Champagne, as you do. (It was totally for Dana - I really didn't care for such a treat!!!)

We talked and talked and it was wonderful.
Then we walked down the street to Fortnum Mason - just for the beauty of it - and then to Hatchards, the oldest book shop in London. Dana wanted to but some John O'Donohue books - sensible woman.

Tomorrow we run her to the Airport and then I turn to changing the world again. I guess it has stopped spinning due to me being distracted ............

Five
5
Five words to describe my life at the moment::
prickly eyes
tense through expectations
deep through reading and human contact
excited with all the music I have to listen into
nervous but not in a negative way

I wonder about you?
I wonder if you can be honest - even with yourself , even secretly.

I am sitting in Belfast City airport.
I am ....................
I am feeling privileged.
I am .......
I am buzzing from being amongst flowers opening up to the sun - humans.
I am ..............
I am thinking, feeling, purpose-full.
I am blessed by dipping into this group of volunteers and professional staff who are doing stuff that I believe in with all my heart.

This has been the last of a series of visits where I have been facilitating a large group in the big ting tings of life. Personal development, body mind and spirit stuff. Leadership training. Awareness and skill development. Shalom.

So many voluntary organisations fail to give young humans opportunities to grow through participation and involvement - into moving from taker to maker. Becoming future leaders in whatever role they decide.
So many organisations run programmes without meaning and purpose. No thoughts on personal development - just activities without the strategic thinking. Activities that only use time and entertain. No long term vision.
I say - think outcomes - not activities.
I say - think objectives not programmes.
I say - think participation not being a slave to doing everything.

I have only dipped my toe into this group. Only contributing one programme alongside a whole range of experiences.

I am reflecting deep. I cannot tell you about individuals who have inspired me. Humans who have moved from being in need, needing support in crucial areas of life, and getting it. Moving on from needs which were like a leather strap around the chest - gripping and cutting into vital organs. Moving from this to release and a different view of life. A liberation into knowing they can now understand themselves, others in their community AND realising that they can make a difference.

Thank you for coping with me as I dribble down my chin.
Thank you for listening to me as I reflect and learn from my experiences.

you are beautiful.

I have been invited to return in September and some further involvement with this exciting belonging-community.
