Big John came to stay before
U2 Dublin
bringing a bottle of Cointreau
- the way to a mans heart.
After Dublin he stayed and we had a great lamb roast prepared by Joan - we enjoyed a more normal reality.
After that we split.
He went on his message boards, all about U2 of course, and I watched the the recorded rugby league game between our greatest rivals.
Come on the Saints, my team, we need to beat the lot. Especially the Pies on Friday.
Morning after, we had glasses of Cointreau before we slept the night, we loaded a big trailer with mattresses, beds, cocktail cabinets (thanx Sheilas for lumbering me with this unused item for so many years) and loads of other stuff for the tip.
Big John the last guest at Wilson Mansions.
Last breakfast.
Then his bed went to the tip.
Downsizeville.
After the load up we loaded up his motor.
We loaded all my VHS tape collection. Years of Greenbelt Festival videos from many shows over the yeaars. Images of thousands of beautiful humans - many who must be in their 40's by now.
Valuable archives.
Adam Ant was in the back window**.
Inside his motor - loads of U2 massive posters.
Framed U2 special works of art. Framed U2
pictures. and more and more and more .......
A last minute decision was to part with my life time collection of cd's.
Hundreds in an item of furniture to bless any home.
I couldn't look at them.
Everyone with a story.
Everyone purchased by me as a careful decision.
(Including my first CD ever, Joshua Tree buy U2, which Willie Williams gave me before release and even before I owned a CD player.)
The have gone up the A1.
They are in Geordieville by now.
There is no one I would rather give it to - and he could collect.
Others who offered to take them from the Wilson Mansions downsize - apologies.
