#social & #emotional #learning

.... in action.

#social & #emotional #learning.
Behind me is 'BLOB HOMES'
one of the many Blob Tools.
(Search blobtree.com - to get one yourself)

It has many different homes like a
tower block.
Mansion with swimming pool.
A car.
A slum.
A shop doorway.
A ship. .........

I ask people to identify their childhood home
or
'what has been your worst experience of HOME?'
(& other questions).

This is a massive experiential exercise in self disclosure.
The results are powerful.
Everyone learning from each other -
the room full of stillness.
#Vulnerability on show.
Opening humans - like flowers to the sun. All in a climate of trust.

Unforgettable.

Inaction feeds the monster inside us ................

..... releasing interior pain needs a decision.
Inaction feeds the monster inside.
Stopping us being who are & who we can BECOME.
We all need to have one person in our lives
who we can trust & can hear us.
If you have not trusted anyone in your current circle - write your feelings out.

A way of mastering our inner being.

OTHERWISE our head heart & soul can be like

a cement mixer.
Churning around non stop.
It’s only when we stop that churning & pour ...
.... then it becomes concrete.
More understandable -
we can take charge of our
🅱🅴🅰🆄🆃🅸🅵🆄🅻 self.

A new inner being BECOMING.

FAMILY - MISSING THEM - NEVER EVER BEEN APART SO MUCH

..... privilege to know these
 🅱🅴🅰🆄🆃🅸🅵🆄🅻 🅷🆄🅼🅰🅽🆂 -
from birth to adulthood -
missing human contact precious daughters.
into our 10th week now in LOCKDOWN -
Joy being a life line delivering food supplies almost daily.

My friend Dave says:: "I recognise the guy in the middle but who are the other four"?

A plastic bag containing their life belongings.

Working in Hostels for young people.
OFTEN a young adult walks in slowly.
Carrying a plastic bag.
A plastic bag containing their life belongings.

The approach reception with caution.
Fleeting glances all around this central hub area.

The receptionist calls in the duty Hostel staff member.
"Hello" and without stopping walking
there is a walk past -
"I will be with you in a few minutes - hang on"

NO NO NO NO !

My awareness training of staff is
NOT to behave like this.

The first 4 minutes of meeting someone
LASTS FOREVER

The FIRST thing to day is a warm welcome
maybe a
Handshake::

"My name is ******"
and then "lets get you a cup of tea"
guiding the potential resident to the coffee bar
" I will get you a cup of tea.........." -
( and guided hand to a comfortable seat comes next and a few words about themselves NOT an instant questioning of who they are and their homelessness questions!

(A CUP OF TEA IS MAYBE
THE FIRST FOR DAYS)

And then, only then, (if they have to) -
"can you have a sit down for a few minutes
I need to finish my little task and
I will be with you very soon"
The first four minutes ............................
