I can't afford it - a #PipWilson #prose #poem

I can't afford it
Not to love
I can't afford
To hate
I can't afford it
to allow my feelings to go unread and understood
I can't afford it
Not to be vulnerable
I can't afford
to sacrifice freedom for security
I can't afford it
not to choose a place called uncomfortable where growth resides
I can't afford
to hate than LOVE because love does a better job.
I can't afford
not to see beyond a persons behaviour
I can't afford
to stop loving because of a persons behaviour
I can't afford
to count the cost and heed the wounds
I can't afford
to believe that beautiful is only skin deep.
I can't afford
when I have nothing in my hands
to believe that I have nothing to offer.
I can't afford
not to act justly and live humbly
I can't afford
not to daily refresh my irritation
I can't afford
not to love as if I have never been hurt
I can't afford
not to love when I dislike a behaviour.
I can't afford it
to pretend I am OK, stable, perfect
when 12 men a day in the UK commit suicide
I can't afford it
not to share my stumbling and fumbling.
I can't afford
not to share my beautiful imperfection
I can't afford to
ignore the words
'he who was rich became poor'
I can't afford it
That I am rich
and live like only one third of the world
I can't afford it
to have an opinion about everything.
I can't afford
not to read the signals called my FEELINGS.
I can't afford it
when I see/experience difficult behaviour
not to see the hurt cowering behind it.
I can't afford it
I can't afford it
I can't afford it
I can't afford it
I can't afford it
