I just love this song/a sure hit/and he has an album to come/James Blake/Love him

My experience is -
that it is a great stride in personal development
is when we reach a position of believing
that it is ok to feel vulnerable,
be open about vulnerability
and even accept that vulnerability is a strength
and not a weakness.

My personal journey into this area
has included several events in which I felt extreme vulnerability.
I have never suffered a nervous breakdown
and I feel deeply for those who have,
but I have had the equivalent of a credit crunch - emotionally.
I have lived and experienced extreme fear.
I have been in unmanageable situations.
I have had to change my style of leadership -
u turn indeed,
and have had a heart transplant in theological terms.

It is mask stuff.
If we feel vulnerable but pretend we don't -
we are painting on the make-up,
fashion styling and dressing up in a mask.

I understand and feel deeply for all in this.
Some humans are so emotionally fragile
that they have to keep a public face for survival.

So many have said to me
"Pip - I want to take the
Red Pill (adventure, risk, on the edge)
but at the moment I need to take the
Blue Pill (Safe, secure, no risk, routine)
because I am so vulnerable".
... and that's ok
to take the Blue pill
Self Determination is an act of Love
Some are in a too vulnerable place for red.
But if a human is residing in a place called
comfortable -
now is the time for a RED pill.

For the rest of us,
on the pill,
who yearn for wholeness,
development for self and world,
there is growth out there in Vulnerableville.

achieve inner peace

I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me today, and we all could probably use more calm in
Our lives.

Some doctor on television this morning said that the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started.

So I looked around my house to see things I'd started and hadn't finished and, before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Chardonnay, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of wum, a pockage of Prunglies, tha mainder of bot Prozic and Valum scriptins, the res of the Chesescke an a box a choclets.

What happened when teacher moved in?

A wayward schoolgirl gets the shock of her life when her mum hands over control of the family home to her teacher for a week to improve her behaviour. The experience was recorded for a BBC Three TV documentary as executive producer, Fiona O'Sullivan explains.

You could have heard a pin drop in the head teacher's office when Loretta Cook was told the news that her 29-year-old technology teacher, Hannah Dudley would be moving in.

There was a pause and then Loretta's response. "Does this mean you're going to see me without any makeup?" A funny knee-jerk response but one that completely summed up the boundary that Loretta's teacher was about to cross.

And for 14-year-old Loretta, being seen without makeup is a sore point indeed.

Start Quote

Loretta's mum, Karen

She's such a lovely, wonderful, beautiful girl... I feel like I've failed her”

End Quote Loretta's mum, Karen

Just two days earlier, mum had refused to give Loretta time for her beauty regime because she had been running late and at the school entrance, Loretta had refused to get out of the car.

The scuffle actually got physical as Mum tried to undo Loretta's seatbelt. "I'm not going in looking like this," she said. "I'm not going to school unless I've got my hair and make-up ready." Loretta ended up walking off the school grounds.

So, back to the head teacher's office.

Loretta was in shock and Mum in tears. "She's such a lovely, wonderful, beautiful girl and has such a fantastic sense of humour and she's just wasting herself," her tired mother Karen whimpered. "I feel like I've failed her."

Miss Dudley tried to explain to Loretta that Mum was at her wit's end and did not know how to control Loretta or what else to do.

Loretta's parents and the school had decided that by joining forces in this remarkable way, they might be able to get Loretta back on track and help her make the most of an education she could get a lot out of.

"Loretta is somebody I would say, is on the cusp of becoming quite a behavioural problem but isn't there yet and is, I think, salvageable for that reason," said the head teacher, Tracy Campbell. "She's somebody that deep down wants to do better than she is."

Driving home

Within minutes Miss Dudley was joining Loretta and mum on the drive home from school. Hannah Dudley would return to her own home overnight but for every waking hour, at school or at home, she would be part of Loretta's life.

Hannah Dudley had no experience of dealing with children or families outside a classroom. She certainly did not come with a tried and tested formula on how to sort Loretta out.

Hannah Dudley and Loretta share the family sofa Hannah Dudley and Loretta share the family sofa

"A lot of people have said that I'm maybe a bit crazy to take this on, maybe this is too big. Maybe it is but I'd rather give something a go and it not work than never have tried in the first place."

Hannah felt she needed to find out what was going on at home in order to see what might be causing Loretta's erratic disrespectful behaviour.

"But you can’t get to any of these truths
by sitting in a field smiling beatifically,
avoiding your anger and damage and grief.
Your anger and damage and
grief are the way to the truth.
We don’t have much truth to express unless
we have gone into those rooms and closets and woods
and abysses that we were told not go in to.
When we have gone in and looked around for a long while,
just breathing and finally taking it in –
then we will be able to speak in our own voice
and to stay in the present moment.
And that moment is home."

— Anne Lamott

Winter is upon us
shivery a bit
and five of us met
to curry in Brick Lane
the home of curry.

And fine it was.
The food-yes.
But the main thing was the humans.

Many apologies tonight.
Busy humans
wet evening
but we had a great time.

Sadly no more until New Year
but that will be a delight.

On the way home
I called at Val and Malcolm's.
They told me all about their
Mediterranean cruse.
Jealous I am.
But I don't think I would enjoy
other than the food hmmm

Zedzz for me now.
But thought I would say hello
and post some pix
via Ross - what a great human becoming ....

What do you think Love is?
I have been trying to discover for many years.

Before that I didn't bother.
I was interested in myself.
That wasn't love either.

I was being swept down a stream
stream of peer group
stream of culture
stream of normal
stream of unthinking
stream of unfeeling
stream of ignorance
stream of spiritual-less.

That was me.

Then it started
I think there were multiple triggers.
Most, early on, blurred.
And so long ago.

Vague .....
I began to become aware of God.
Mainly, humans, referencing him.
Strange but intriguing.

The big step was
the day
the days
the period
when
I could possibly be loved.

I had never thought I
could be love - I
could be also a lover.

I was discovering Love.

To be continued because
it was continued ....

We must not think that our love has to be extraordinary.
But we do need to love without getting tired. How does a lamp burn?
Through the continuous input of small drops of oil.
These drops are the small things of daily life:
faithfulness, small words of kindness,
a thought for others, our way of being quiet,
of looking, of speaking, and of acting.
They are the true drops of love
that keep our lives and relationships burning
like a lively flame.

Force quit/I sat there waiting for me/shout for joy/punch it in/shush now/don't move or say anything/unknown caller

-- Post From My iPhone
I think
I feel
I reflect.

It is late night at Wilson Mansions.

Time to get on the slide
Climb the steps of reflection
Then sit on the matt
And begin the journey to bed
And the drowsy slide into Zedzville.

I have a priority/strategic journey ahead.
Those two words
always on my desk.

I need to get my email inbox down.
When I return from being away
about one week ago -
I had 250 delightful/need answering/ messages.
Now I am 172. Logjam.
A few weeks ago I could drive it down to 50/60
but now cannot get below 100/150.

I have gigs to do
gigs to prep for.
All are important.
They all involve beautiful humans
none less than another.

I have a big unusual one though
in South Africa.
I have not been there before.
The context and objectives are always my first consideration.
Here the context is unknown to me.
I am being briefed
but I am still on unknown ground.

It is also two weeks away from home.
Nowadays I am usually only away for w/end.
My past life sometimes drew me for one week.

So this is wonderland
Or it could be Buskalotville.

I am used to be spontaneous with groups.
But I also plan well and then busk.
I will do it
I will love it.

I will post some links before I go.
I will be posting wi-fi permitting.

I only depart on 5/11
so there is lots todo before that
but you can see it is on my mind.

So pleased that Joy is back from Argentina.
We had an unexpected invite for dinner tonight
and she still has jet-lag.

Conniepops is coming here on Thursday Friday.
This will be the first visit when she can really crawl.
I expect her to explore the flat - every corner
for the first time.

I have done a lot of writing this week.
Not so much Blogging
but other creative stuff which will end up as a book one day.

I have so much to deliver.
Books/new ideas for tools/specialist work.
All I do is constantly creative and well worth a book chapter.

Apple's iCal to get 'Year' view, Mail to get iTunes-like interface in Mac OS X Lion

By AppleInsider Staff

Published: 01:25 PM EST

Apple's forthcoming operating system update, Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, will bring new features and new looks to longstanding applications on the Mac, including the mail and calendar software.

Craig Federighi, vice president of engineering for Mac OS X at Apple, offered a quick demo of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion on stage to members of the press, including features like Mission Control and Launch Pad. In addition, some of the more subtle design tweaks found in the current build of Lion could be glimpsed.

Apple emphasized that the upcoming operating system upgrade will bring iOS features "Back to the Mac," creating a more unified experience between products running Mac OS X and iOS.

The new iCal application in Lion, shown in an early form Wednesday, has a new feature which appears as if it will let users to view their upcoming events in a "Year" view. The version of iPad Apple ships for iPad also offers a fourth view (in addition to Day, Week, and Month) called "List" view.

In general, the new iCal app in Lion sports a look and feel similar to the calendar application found on the iPad. Controls for flipping through days, weeks and months have also been relocated down and to the right, with buttons on each side of the "Today" button, aligned on the right side across from the date.

We have a pile of new songs.
Bono
U2 is recording a new album (one of at least two coming our way in 2011) with the help of Brian Burton, better known as Danger Mouse (Broken Bells/Gnarles Barkley), which is planned to be released early next year.

“We have about 12 songs with him,” said Bono. “At the moment that looks like that album we will put out next because it’s just happening so easily.”

The band is also working on a “club” album that is set to feature Will.i.am, RedOne and David Guetta. Bono said, “U2′s remixes in the 1990s were a real treasure. So we wanted to make a club-sounding record. We have a pile of songs.” As if U2 didn’t already have enough on their plate, Bono is contemplating recording the songs he did with The Edge for the Spiderman Broadway Musical, but hasn’t “convinced the rest of the band to do that yet.”

U2’s 2011 Tour will be preceded by a brand new album. Tentatively named “Songs of Ascent” will feature many jams the band debuted on their latest concert trek through Europe. According the Edge,” the songs are really, really happy. We’re convinced that we have something really special.” U2′s last album 2009’s “No Line on the Horizon” placed #2 in the 2009 XRT Listener Poll. We’ll have new U2 music for you as soon as it’s available.

The No. 2857 bus on which Rosa Parks was riding before she was arrested (a GM "old-look" transit bus, serial number 1132), is now a museum exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum.

1. There are at least two people in this world
that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world
love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you
is because they want to
be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone,
even if they don't
like you.

5. Every night,
SOMEONE thinks about you
before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever,
something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has
turned its back on you, take another look.

...... ..... beautifully human

that is what you are
I mean that

you are NOT your behaviour
your feelings
your incompleteness
your aching
your fallshortofwhatyouwanttobeness

you are beautiful at the core
your soul

you are loved
you valuable

you may not feel that

maybe you don't think you are
beautiful
you are

that love is like

Occasionally in the IT industry (where I work) someone comes up with an idea that really annoys lots of people. In 2003 Nick Carr wrote a brilliant article (and a subsequent book) for Harvard Business Review (HBR) called ’IT doesn’t matter’...

loudspeaker Read in full and post your comments...

I can see in their lives some great hurts and damage and vulnerability and it brings out mine too.

......... I am meeting,
on different days of my life,
many different humans.

I love being with some of the people.
I just love others.
Some I relax with.
Some I feel stretch with.
A few I feel inadequate with.

I meet such talented humans.
I have to remind myself that they are so good
- at certain things
- differently than me.
Otherwise I will not be becoming
I will be trapped in failure and not freedom bound.

Other humans I love with a deep passion.
They are not my friends but people I work with.
I love em.
I yearn for their wholeness - and I,
at the same time,
yearn for my own.
I can see in their lives some
great hurts and
damage and
vulnerability and
it brings out mine too.

I want to refresh the irritation.
I want to yearn.
I want to be dissatisfied and restless and incomplete.
I want the sand between my toes and my teeth.
As long as there are bruised humans
I want to NOT be where comfort is.
My growth does not reside in comfort zones.
My development is when I stand alongside humans who tell me .....

Sixteen and earning £200/500 per week selling chemicals.
Drug users telling me how much.
Telling me how they strive to reduce and come off.
Honest telling of me how they have destroyed their families -
well - hurt in extreme.
Their honesty is in itself developmental and life changing.
Shocked by their own verbal expressions.
I see flowers opening up to the sun -
right there in front of my eyes.
Beautiful creation.
Beautiful imperfection.

A prison letter from someone serving fifteen years is heart churning.
Big tough men who are scared of change.
Mental health issues salivating from the souls.

I am glad I have Greenbelt as a community and a festival.
I am delighted to have friends at home and abroad.
I am pleased coz I know people love me.
I want to express love, live it,
with those who are
uncertain about it.
Cannot handle it.

I suppose ~I am just pouring out my reflections
on the last few months
of being in touch with beautiful humans ......
....... hope you don't mind ....
.... I am doing it for me really ....................

you are beautiful ..............

It’s funny:
I always imagined when I was a kid that adults had some kind of inner toolbox,
full of shiny tools:
the saw of discernment,
the hammer of wisdom,
the sandpaper of patience.
But then when I grew up
I found that life handed you these rusty bent old tools –
friendship, prayer, conscience, honesty – and said,
‘Do the best you can with these,
they will have to do.’
And mostly, against all odds, they’re enough.’

Year 2010: The art of looking sideways

We all need tools in our life toolbox for the times we are sharp with the ones we love or “difficult” relationships at work. Level 5 is a tool, a skill to have ready for emotional moments. It is about managing emotions and learning the ability to avoid regrettable outbursts. A workshop to get tooled up.

Done
a negative support map
a positive support map

Thinking negative
as well as positive
is a must.

Knowing our weaknesses
as well as strengths
essential.

we can look at the negatives
look at the positives
but we need to cultivate the positive by making some life decisions about our life.

We are not responsible for the other persons behaviour
we are responsible for our own behaviour.

The centre of our life needs to be decided upon
otherwise we have no centre
no heart
no soul
no life

the glory of God is a person fully alive

"I have felt vulnerable a few times recently.
I often do.
I listen for such feelings -
and enjoy the discovery awaiting.

But I do feel them and sometimes I have an aftertaste from them
like the after effects of eating a kipper.
I don't like those feelings but,
as with kipper aftertaste,
I recognise them,
and take the indigestion tablet,
or better still,
lots of tap water .....
symptom relief.

A Feelings Symptom Relief Plan ::
1 I do a SWOT on myself
2 I write to myself - and you - if you have thirsty eyes and ears
3 Talking it out with a L5 friend is so wondrously offloading
4 Reading stuff which stimulates, grows in me, stretches my yearning."
