" I am stilled by my own reaction to reading a card and viewing a picture - I am aware of others.
Un-speaking faces of - of pain - no,
more like wonder."
My feelings recorded then;
Deep sadness
deep identification
silent amazement
visual trauma
painfully beautiful
ghost readers
painful disturbance
blessingly disturbed
I saw others with expressions of internal disturbance.
Standing silenced.

More than a beautiful Human

When you spend two hours talking with someone who regularly says "I feel like sticking him ........" while at the same time making an underarm stabbing motion and contorting a face to fit ............... I think of the "F WORD" project which was at Greenbelt.
The F is for forgiveness and it is not a Christian project but, of course, a Christian principle. It was a display of photographs and quotations of people who had been treated so terrible that it brought tears to the eyes and a stillness that filled the space at Greenbelt so powerfully.
Rape
Mutilation
Mental abuse
Torture
and more .............
And yet they had decided to forgive another because of various principles but also to release themselves from bitterness and a massive weight around them like chains.
There is a contrast between the stabbing and the forgiveness.
Also between people who have never received the words;
"Forgive them because they don't know what they are doing ...."
The words of a
MORE THAN A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN
as he hung on the cross .............

I yearn for their wholeness - and I, at the same time, yearn for my own.
.
......... I am meeting
on different days of my life -
many different humans.
I love being with some of the people.
I just love others.
Some I relax with.
Some I feel stretch with.
A few I feel inadequate with.
I meet such talented humans.
I have to remind myself
that they are so good -
at certain things -
differently than me.
Otherwise I will not be a 'skin on human'.
(strange words you think - see the post below somewhere).
I will be trapped in failure and not freedom bound.
Other humans I love with a deep passion.
They are not my friends but people I work with.
I love em.
I yearn for their wholeness - and I,
at the same time,
yearn for my own.
I can see in their lives some great hurts and
damage and vulnerability and it brings out mine too.
I want to refresh the irritation.
I want to yearn.
I want to be dissatisfied and restless and incomplete.
I want the sand between my toes and my teeth.
As long as there are bruised humans
I want to NOT be where comfort is.
My growth does not reside in comfort zones.
My development is when I stand
alongside humans who tell me .....
Sixteen and earning £200/300 per week selling chemicals.
Drug users telling me how much.
Telling me how they strive to reduce and come off.
Honest telling of me how they have
destroyed their families - well - hurt in extreme.
Their honesty is in itself developmental and life changing.
Shocked by their own verbal expressions.
I see flowers opening up to the sun -
right there in front of my eyes.
Beautiful creation.
Beautiful imperfection.
A prison letter from someone
serving fifteen years is heart churning.
Big tough men who are scared of change.
Mental health issues salivating from the souls.
I am glad I have Greenbelt as a community
and a festival.
I am delighted to have friends at home and abroad.
I am pleased coz I know people love me.
I want to express love, live it,
with those who are uncertain about it.
Cannot handle it.
I suppose ~I am just pouring out my reflections
on the last few days
of being in touch with beautiful humans ......
....... hope you don't mind ...
..... I am doing it for me really ....................

YMCA brightens up a cloudy Greenbelt
Gloomy skies, flash floods and a chilly wind couldn't put a dampener on Greenbelt 2004, and the YMCA was out in force to add a touch of sunshine to the festival.
Over the past few years Ken Montgomery, YMCA England's North East Regional Secretary, and his team have built the YMCA's presence at the festival from a single marquee to a small village packed with attractions to stimulate visiting festival goers in mind, body and spirit.
One of the highlights of the YMCA's Greenbelt 2004 activities was a series of performances featuring young people from emerging eastern European YMCAs.
The triple-bill featured a quirky puppet show from a Bulgarian YMCA team, a selection of favourite pop songs performed by a team of singers from Moscow, and a stunning mime by a talented troupe from the Ukraine.
The twenty-minute performance 'What is your name?' was devised and performed by the theatre group Yabluko, part of YMCA Ukraine.
This emotional piece of theatre tells the story of Queen front man Freddie Mercury and his death from AIDS, and of four other people who contracted HIV in the same year as the singer.
The YMCA's 24 hour cafe was packed by the end of both performances, on Saturday and Monday morning, full of passing Greenbelters, drawn into the tent to get a closer look at the passionate performance.
The 24-hour cafe was the place to be at Greenbelt, particularly at three o'clock in the morning as nocturnal festival goers continued to keep the YMCA volunteers busy.
Even in the wee small hours, someone would pitch up - guitar in hand - ready to sing the night away.
While the busy cafe staff served up the best value food and drink at Cheltenham racecourse, across the other side of the marquee various acts and singers - ranging from the brilliant to the bizarre - performed on the YMCA Bandstand stage.
Across from the bustle of the cafe was a more reflective space in the form of the YMCA Meditation Maze.
Taking Freedom Bound as its theme - also the theme of the festival - the team from West London YMCA created a labyrinth of sensory delights.
The heart of the maze featured an installation of artwork from inmates from Newhall Women's Prison.
An exploration of what it is like to be 'inside' and 'outside', this powerful piece inspired many visitors to create their own art in response.
Fesitval goers who wanted to burn off a little energy were also well served by the YMCA village.
Just beyond the maze, Crewe & District YMCA set up a beach volleyball court, with the help of 26 tonnes of sand.
Such was the demand for volleyball that the team organised a tournament on the last day, which featured players from across the world - a tiny taste of the Olympics in Cheltenham!
Even more daring festival attendees were offered a bigger challenge thanks to YMCA Lakeside and its climbing wall.
Towering over the Greenbelt village, any person - young or old - brave enough to reach the top was sent away with a certificate, and a sense of self-satisfaction.
Mounted on the back of a trailer, the climbing wall was brought all the way from Florida by Lakeside - its first appearance on British soil.
At only £2 per climb it was cheap at half the price, costing the same as a cup of coffee from Mocha Mania - as the Lakeside team frequently pointed out to passers by.
After all the physical and mental stimulation, what better way to relax than at the best (and only) shower block on the complex, run by student volunteers from Newcastle upon Tyne YMCA?
But be warned, advanced booking was essential - nearly all the weekend's shower slots were booked out on day one.
There is no doubt that this year's Greenbelt YMCA was a great success, adding a rich diversity of attractions to the packed Greenbelt programme.

He was crying.
He wanted to be loved.
Dad said that he would be ok and God would have his heavenly arms around him all night as he slept.
The little boy said
"But I want God with skin on"

I like that because I believe we need to be God with skin on.
80% of communication is non verbal.
People watch our lives more than listen.
We soak in a persons wholeness - verbal is a minority.
When it comes to loving - it needs to be done more than said.
So many humans need those arms around them.
With skin on.
Me too.
I love the move and groove ........ asking humans to press their unique finger print on to another human finger tip.
I have done that with a small group of five or so ......... and with thirty thousand humans - touching finger tips and saying ..................................... saying it all with non-verbal-communication.
I like to think I am touching finger tips with you as I click these keys.
And you yours.
Eye contact through your screen and mine.
So I reach out and stretch one finger to you ....................
and say ............. you are special
precious
unique
