....... and I am too braindead to blog tonight ..........
................ but I lurve this

One day, a new ideal will arise,

and there will be and end to all wars.

I die convinced of this.

It will need much hard work, but it will be achieved…

The important thing,

until that happens,

is to hold one’s banner high and to struggle…

Without struggle there is no life.

The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere

You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day

I feel
I feel .........

I am in late and feel I need to blog
but don't know what!

I stutter to express my feelings without giving the details.
I respect humans I have been with.

I feel - that is the best - just express the feelings
It is better that - than having them in the
Washing Machine of the gut as I go to bed.

I am listening to a Genius iTunes playlist.
The starter track, which stimulates Genius to give me the others, is::
Abraham by Sufjan Stevens from the album 'Seven Swans'.
I never recommend - but this is magic for me.
(I will put it on my iPhone player on my blog - just for you.)

I am feeling deep and reflective.
I am not happy.
Not unhappy.
I know it could easily been seen as hard going tonight.
The ground was not fertile.
I accept that.
Young humans are not all willing to talk.
I respect the lack of 'manner' 'politeness' 'doing the right thing'.
I don't expect them to pretend.

I am thinking of one BHP now.
Language spoke clearly.
It was all in the 'body' kind.
Walking in and out.
Mobile pretence to the ear.
Distant as can possibly be from me,
and others.

I received two handshakes at the end.
And almost a glimmer of eye contact.
I can see the human now.
Video in my head -
Communicating much -
saying nothing - in spoken language.

Sigur Ros is in the Genius list mentioned above.
Playing to me, only, now.

I am feeling a yearning and a need to understand more.
So much of life is silent.
Even in noise.
We have so much to learn
and the greatest journey is the journey inward.
No matter what we do,
experience,
talk about,
think,
observe -
it all needs to be reflected upon.
The number of times that Jesus went away on his own .....
Reflective practice, on his knees I gather.
Mine is usually on the keyboard.
Not two knees
just two fingers.

'You are nobody until someone loves you.'
So many have not experienced that love.
That love of someone.
Human or eternal.
It is not love until it is unconditional.
(PJ Harvey playing now - 'oh my lover')
The most complex humans,
beautiful humans every one,
have trouble in receiving love,
giving love,
absorbing love.
So complex that there is a struggle when love does come along.
Love that gives unconditionally.
And we need to keep that loving.
Not being a reactor but being a pro-actor.

I still have hand written on my original Mission Statement,
and it still stands,
'I have decided to make my life an act of love'.
I am committed to it.
A bit like Level Five communication,
and unconditional love -
it is a risky journey, not a destination.

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas and dreams before the crowd is to risk their love.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The one who risks nothing does nothing and has nothing – and finally is nothing.
He may avoid sufferings and sorrow.
But she simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow or love.
Chained by his certitude, she is a slave, he has forfeited freedom.
Only one who risks is free!

This is Emmanuel Jal on Mainstage Greenbelt Festival 2008.
Filmed by PipONflip.
Pipturesque and thumping.
Gordon is on backing vocals.
See the review below.

Tony Cummings - sorry about throwing that egg at you some long years ago.

This review rocks. Far better than mine which I stumbled into - one line reprinted here first.
Emanuel Jal sung about it from Main-stage. He had been a War Child, fighting with guns before he experienced adolescence. And then a young woman, who didn't stay safe in leafy suburbia, went as a Missionary and snatched him from the rebels. He had us all dancing hip-hop sty-lie, as he told us about his old and new life.

Then Tony Cummings - it was was a fantastic gig
at The Greenbelt Festival
be there
get there
next year
If you are poor - I will pay.

EMMANUEL JAL - Mainstage - 8.10pm
The lengthy soundcheck ate into the performance time, presumably the deejay/technician providing most of the accompaniment was having trouble with his samples.

But when Emmanuel announced to the restless crowd "we gotta go with what we have" it was worth the wait. The one time Sudanese child soldier has grown into a powerfully passionate rapper and his songs, largely taken from his latest 'Warchild' album, made their point with pulverising power.

Emmanuel's voice rang out with the authority of an Old Testament prophet. Phrases and images poured forth to lodge in the listener's grey matter. "I stand here because somebody cared," "50 Cent is being played by The Man,"

"I'm in a different war fighting for the children of Darfur."

Sometimes his images were so shocking that they stunned even the libertine Greenbelt audience; like his breathtaking attack on the oil and mining companies' brutal exploitation of Africa.

"To Mr Oil, Diamond and Gold Miner/Stop treating Mama Africa like a vagina/She's not your whore, not anymore/You take your riches and leave the people poor."

One of Emmanuel's two backing singers, a rotund chap from the Bahamas, talked passionately about the need to resist gun and knife crime on our cities streets.

Then Emmanuel explained he wanted to "take us deep." He launched into a breathtaking, unaccompanied version of "Forced To Sin" which was the most powerful piece of poetic militancy since I heard the Last Poets back in the '60s.

Emmanuel's searing images of eating the rotting flesh of his comrades in a senseless and savage jungle war were gruesome but demanded attention.

He closed his epic by explaining, rather unnecessarily, that "That is my story, God bless you." After the stunned applause the rapper continued by explaining he liked to close his set with some faster songs because,

"Normally I dance my pain out."

And dance he did, careering across the stage to the phat Afrobeat rhythms after he brought some folk from the crowd onto the stage including a cute little girl aged about nine. At the close Emmanuel had the crowd at the front of the stage close to dancing delirium as he took giant steps like he was stomping on Satan's head.

I'm sure that's just what he did.

My thumb reached out and wiped away a tear from her cheek.
We were stood together at The Greenbelt Festival with 20000 others passing by as they participated in some great experiences.

We had not met for years.
The trigger was a question about her soul - so she told me.
She undressed her soul right there in front of me.
It was the struggle with one of her students during the year.
The hostility, the abuse, the uncooperative youthfulness.
Then a single affirmative comment from that young human,
at the end of term,
had touched her soul and she demonstrated it
as love and tears flowed mingling down.

These are my window-shelf 'on the go' books at the moment. There are others scattered around Wilson Mansions.

They are soul food and I sometimes can only read one paragraph before the mind races away into cultural transposition.

I have two fiction. Jack Reacher which I started two months ago and have not touched it since. And one called 'the Shack' yet to face kick off.

Both are on the packing list for a one week break in two weeks time. We shoot off to Greece for a bit of sun which
alluded us in June. At the moment our Greek destination is soaking up temperatures at 27/28 hey hey.

How do you refresh your spirit.
This is my way.
This my best way.
Humans are the other.

Another question now -
For risk takers only::

How do you refresh your irritation?

The new iTunes just released - iTunes 8, has a feature on it which is interesting and refreshing.
You click any music track on your computer, click the Genius button and a list of 25 tracks are placed in a play list ALL from your own computer. ALL similar and chosen by Genius!
I clicked Love Will Tear Us Apart by Susanna And The Magical Orchestra and the playlist below appeared. I can save it and it will appear on my iPod or just play it on my Mac.
I didn't know that I had all these songs! I am playing stuff lost in my 132 GB of music in my system and to suit my mood.
