Teenage centre Josh Jones celebrated his new three-year contract with a hat-trick as Saints climbed into the top four for the first time since February.

Skipper Paul Wellens and man of the match Jonny Lomax also crossed twice to help Saints rattle up a half-century of points for only the second time this season.

Jones took Lance Hohaia's pass to cross for the first Super League try of his career and then added a second before the break from Jon Wilkin's kick - completing his treble in the last minute.

Saints, who sacked boss Royce Simmons after their defeat at Bradford in March, romped into a 28-0 interval lead with Lomax setting up a try for Francis Meli with a dazzling run.

Saints acting boss Mike Rush said:"Josh is stronger than cider and an outstanding prospect. I think he still gets a fiver off his mum when he scores.

"We have a good production line here and hopefully Josh will keep his feet on the floor,"
