LONDON RIOTS

Unbelievable in London yesterday
The attack on police, shops, passing cars, buses, looting and destroying businesses and homes of families for no reason.
I was horrific as it unfolded and I only saw it on TV.

I know something about Gangs.
I would describe yesterday more like MOB violence.

When I was working and living in the inner city, I once led a role play with about 50 youth workers. It was a out mob violence with football violence particularly in mind.
It was chaotic and horrific.
And it was only a role play.

As you know, a role play is not about acting. It is about individuals becoming a person unlike themselves. Emotionally. Internally. Behaviourally.

The role play was scary totally unpredictable violent and nasty.
It only changes when I shouted stop and asked everyone to stand silently and feel their feelings.
They were hyper. angry. Pumped ip with aggressive mischief.
Everyone had powerful feelings raging through thier Hunan frame.
As usual, they struggled to be a Le to articulate their inner feelings.

After the feelings we all sat down and did the analysis of what happened. And why. And feelings. And who they had become in those 10 minutes of raging in other people's shoes.

Where I am - I feel that the London riots were as near S you can get to football mob violence. I have spent many a midnight hour hanging out with young humans planning and glorifying such activities. I am certain there will be many stories told in the coming days.
It wi be relived as a pink Le of satisfaction and bravado.
Sadly.

This behaviour is driven by emotions.
No emotional intelligence here.

As I concluded in my 1979 study about gangs and subsequently my book GUTTER FEELINGS, there is a massive emotional deprivation amongst humans who commit violence for pleasure.

They have failed and have been failed by the education system in schools and in their homes.

Informal education can be brought to the streets but more and more cuts have been beheading these provisions.
Lord have mercy.
