Beautiful non-human RIP

Just back from the Vet having decided that Ziggy had no life to lead and it was right put put him to sleep.

Weeping like a baby because it has been 12 years in sharing all our lives with him in two homes. Night and day.

It was terrible taking him having made the decision. The tests we waited for confirmed the worst and he could not have survived.

Oppressive Mothers

I am fascinated in the relationships between parents and a child.
My experience is that so many adults are frightened of their Mother. Many spend time with Mother but feel
NOT OK.

On one course I led, years ago, one woman in her 40's said she felt oppressed by her Mother and she had been dead for 10 years!

I am fascinated by this issue. Parents who want to control. Want to give advice all the time and use a word I never use -
'SHOULD'

When the Sheila's left home I decided never to give advice. They share stuff but I never say "I think ...." or "you should..."
I think that is oppressive and does not develop self determination.

A parents job, it seems to me, to to prepare children for adulthood/wholeness and that needs practice from early childhood. Allowing then to take some increasing responsibility along the way.

I have not read this article yet, picture above, but my desire to understand oppression and freedom pulls me to study all this stuff.

Emotional Spiritual Relational Social freedom is a journey well worth exploring.

And midst relationships I have a Pipturesque or two to picture my path .....

Joy making art in the ordinary

My new friends keep calling "pip"

And I delight when those who are so often oppressed are offered some light in their lives

How can humans be so bigoted ?

Joy again

TODAY. 1985. I started work at Romford YMCA.

We moved
As a family of four
From London's East End
A few miles into another London Borough called Dagenham.

The two girls
MrsBeautiful and me
Moved into a flat on the second floor of the 11 story block.
We loved the change
The opportunity
The community
The thriving 150 bed hostel
The active community of members
In this 24/7 x 365 adventure.

I didn't work my second day.
My Auntie Mary had died and her funeral was on 2/5/85
I always remember that day!

One of the first things I did was to convert a cupboard into an office right in the heart of the warm heart of the Y
Right next to the Coffee Bar Hub

I need to write a book about the following 18 years - but back in '85
A few weeks into Romford YMCA
I published my first book
GUTTER FEELINGS

Just a little reflection
On this special day.

Zig
Is on my knee.
Asleep and comfortable
I will have to disturb him to go to zzzzzzzzzz

But not just yet ...........
