If heaven
by Rosie Miles

"If heaven might happen
it would look like a racecourse
full of people not horses.

Everyone would have a place to pitch their tent
and there would be a lot of mud and weather.

We would all be the same as before
except our bladder functions would have dried up.

There would be a place
on the top floor of heaven
to be very quiet.

There would also be skateboarding,
bands playing underground where the average age is fourteen,
a smörgåsbord of stalls to get food.

The programme of What Is On In Heaven
would be very full.

There would be a soundtrack of eternal drumming.
The Big Drummer would slow the rhythm
so everyone could get the beat.

You would be able to sit in one corner of heaven
and watch the amazing wide sky.

In another you could listen to a man
speak clearly of how he fought for human rights
when he was alive. You could hear
a politician, a priest, a poet, a shy stuttering actor,
a Dominican monk, a cultural commentator.

You could wonder what would have happened
– what might still happen –
if Jesus had come as a girl.

You could learn to jive or tango
(step, two, three, four).

You could do none of these things.

You could sit on the steps of heaven’s grandstand
and play monster Connect 4 with the friends
who helped you pitch your tent,
watching all the people wearing wellingtons
imprinted with smarties or jelly beans.

Ten-foot transvestite angels would waft past
blowing bubbles of ambient music.

Strangers would smile at you
and people would have brought their dogs.
There would be a Big Top and jugglers on monocycles

and all the people on the doors of heaven’s venues
checking that you were wearing heaven’s wristband
would be unfailingly cheerful.

You would marvel at their ability
to herd an impossible number of people
into a finite space.

Blessed are they who signal to others the end of the queue.
In heaven they shall be the salt of the earth.

And you would belong there – really belong there –
because heaven would not be about
keeping your doubt out

or your many questions.
In fact, if heaven might happen there will be
no certainty at all

just a community of the wounded
who are as lost as you are
eating churros dipped in chocolate

trying to sing
the intelligence of the heart.

I have promised to follow you to the end .......

Today I promised to be alongside another
to the end
my end more likely
to be before the other.

I don't think it is good to resent
dislike
hate
another human
and
it's not good for you .....

There has been a lot of ugly comments about Tony Blair.
The sort that damages the writer/speaker themselves.
hate builds hate
negative stokes the negative.

Who do you follow
Team
Group
Celeb?
I know my choice.

What I loved about
The Greenbelt Festival.
(I have had calls, texts and emails
asking am I alright because I revealed my L5
some caring/no everyone caring,
others thinking I am in a dip/not ok/a real sad human,
others saying it was refreshing.)

I am desiring to be L5
(if you don't know what L5 is
read a few blogs of mine
or get my new book)
I want /aim to share L5
tell you who I am
stuff.

When I go into a new
centre
conference
group ............
I feel lonely
NOT all the time!
I feel that isolated feeling
I feel it
thank God for feelings
and spring-board from them.

It is not the fault of the group I am with
The centre/conference/hostel etc..
They are my feelings which sweep through me like
restless winds
(and you too - I believe)
but i want to be in touch with these feelings/signals.
I want to feel them all
learn from them all
ALL.
And that is my striving for emotional intelligence.

When I share feelings about Greenbelt
It is not the fault of Greenbelt.
Not the humans around me -
not their fault.
It is not even my fault
they are just feelings!

Feelings are not right or wrong.
It is behaviour which can be bad or good.
Feelings are real and, unless we reveal them,
to
self
others - appropriate others
it builds up =
a volcano will arise in due course........

So I felt periods of NOT OK-ness at GB.
Something for me to work through.

Greenbelt goodies for me .......
Being able to say to the woman who I met two years ago,
that the highlight of that Festival was
when I wiped away a tear from her cheek,
with my right forefinger,
as she was sharing L5 with me.

The many Mint Tea moments with individuals
and small groups/couples.

Many meetings of new humans.
Meeting and greetings.
L1, 2, 3 and 4 which will lead to
L5
if we meet some more.

The YMCA Cafe and encounters with lots I know
from when I worked in the Y.
Tracy and David Pendle - the work horses of this project
who pour Love out into every cup of tea.

.... and same project
the young guns working there.
Many I know from leading groups/conferences
with them as passionate participants.
Some who have had tough lives.
Hard times
mashed up years
Now living in Hostels
Not awaiting A level results
but whether they will have a bed to sleep in tonight ..........

To see them
meet new
feel their warmth
feel the connection
wondrous.

And late night drinks, which is the context
not the depth and the purpose.
Meeting new and old friends.
Meeting once-a-year-friends
Facebook friends for first time.
I Love Love the exchanges.

I also heard lots of speakers for
2 minutes -
I never sit down and listen
I get the tapes after and drink from the well.

I saw one concert - ONLY
Michael Mc Dermott in the Performance Cafe
I love him, the person, first
Love his music after that.
As one comment to a review said -
Lets get him in the biggest Venue at Greenbelt - yes please.

I dipped into mainstage,
chatted to humans backstage too,
but saw no full sets of artistes -
London Community Gospel the best for me.

I loved so much............
mainly humans
set in the context of a great festival and
(if you are not a Greenbelt Angel
can you consider becoming?
becoming more than a TAKER
but becoming a Greenbelt MAKER
join the community of followers -
help Greenbelt to exist for children/humans in the future.)

Summary
Love it
Loved the interactions
the contributions I made
the feedback too
DID not enjoy myself
at Greenbelt.
He was a dissatisfied human.
Read my blog below for depth.

So I am OK.
I am buzzing.
I am positive
but got lots a feelings
mainly about my gigs this week ................

One of a Kind in all the world - Greenbelt

by Mike KING
Serves as President of YouthFront, a Youth Ministry organization in the US.

I truly think the Greenbelt Festival is a unique one of a kind Festival, unlike anything else - anywhere... in the world.

But, hopefully not for long.

Greenbelt should have a North American companion soon called the Wild Goose Festival. For several years now I've been part of a unique band of sisters and brothers who have carried the vision for something like Greenbelt to be launched in North America. That day is approaching... more HERE

This screenshot gives a clue as to the music on my macbook.
My main machine has a wider selection - I will snap that too.

I sinc the misic her for my gigs and sinc to my iPhone.
Keep it minimum but you cannot see the large range of radio programmes I have captured.

I love music.
Cannot play it.
Listening is my chocolate.
I would rather be blind than deaf

.... and you?
