It is an act of beauty when you are telling me your feelings.......

It is an act of beauty when you are telling me your feelings.
It is an act of beauty when I am telling you my feelings.
L5
I am somehow sharing with you the whole of my life:
The people who have influenced me.
The experiences that have shaped me.

Get your brain to build a relationship with your feelings .............

I am desiring to be L5
(if you don't know what L5 is
read a few blogs of mine
SEARCH MY www.pipwilson.com

I want /aim to share L5
tell you who I am
stuff.

When I go into a new
centre
conference
group ............
I feel 'lonely' feelings
I expect them
I am a stranger.

BUT I feel that feeling
NOT all the time!
Just for a few moments/minutes.
I feel that 'isolated' feeling
I feel it
thank God for feelings
and spring-board from them.

It is not the fault of the group I am with
The centre/conference/hostel/event/hostel ……..

They are MY feelings which sweep through me like
restless winds
(and you too? - I believe)
but i want to be in touch with these feelings/signals.
I want to feel them all
learn from them all
ALL.
And that is my striving for emotional intelligence.

When I share feelings about life
It is not the fault of life.
Not the humans around me -
not their fault.
It is not even my fault
they are just feelings!

Feelings are not right or wrong.
Behaviour can be right or wrong
BUT never feelings
it depends what we do with our feelings!

It is behaviour which can be bad or good.
Feelings are real and, unless we reveal them,
to
self
others - appropriate others
it builds up =
a volcano will arise in due course……..

"BOTTLED UP
emotions can damage their container"

I was 40 before I discovered my feelings
That I could get into contact with them
go there and understand them
Decide how best to manage them.
A journey for the rest of my life.

I have decided
It is really fatal to allow feelings to manage life
We need to attach our brains to them quickly.
(FEELINGS travel quicker to the BRAIN than THINKING)

Get your brain to build a relationship with your feelings -
they will get on well together
once they know each other !

Poverty is NUMB ........

Poverty is many things…

poverty
Poverty is not entertainment, it’s not noble or romantic.
Poverty is… heavy.
It’s heavy hearts and heavy legs.
It’s sore skin and hollow eyes.
It’s upset and downhearted.
It’s hunger. Malnourishment. It’s always thinking about the next meal.
Poverty is bailiffs, it’s food banks, it’s queues and lists,
it’s never being told what you’re entitled to but always being told.
Poverty is being shown up then put down.
It’s missed payments and mistrust.
It’s always answering questions but never answering the door.
Poverty is hiding in plain view. It’s hiding.
Poverty is high bills and low pay.
It’s higher costs and lower self-esteem.
It’s invisible scars and visible pain.
Poverty is living nextdoor, it’s living on your nerves, it’s not living, it’s… barely surviving.

Poverty is… everywhere. With… nowhere to turn
It’s a gut-wrenching silence, screaming.
Poverty is depressing, demotivating and dehumanising.
It’s degradation, desperation and despair.
Poverty is feeling… worthless, it’s feeling anxious, it’s feeling excluded,
it’s feeling rejected, it’s feeling ashamed, it’s feeling trapped, it’s feeling angry,
it’s feeling fffrustrated, poverty is…. exhausting.

It’s not feeling anything. It’s… numb.
Poverty is… crushing. Empty. Lonely.
Poverty is cold. It’s damp. It’s ill health. Bad housing. Sadness, fear and human misery.
Poverty is ignored and abandoned. It’s sanctioned and sectioned.
It’s late payments and early deaths.

Poverty is not something that happens to… “others”.
Poverty is our odd people, our young people, our sick people, our disabled people,
our mentally ill people, our homeless people.
Poverty is people seeking asylum, it’s people who are refugees,
people who are migrants. Poverty is overworked, underpaid everyday people.

Poverty is people. It’s children. Babies. Not… “them”. Us.
“Poverty is the worst form of violence.” (Mahatma Gandhi)
Poverty is growing in our country. In 2016.

Poverty is many things,
but it is not
acceptable.

This poem is re-produced with permission from Church Action on Poverty’s magazine SPARK. It was written by the Powerlines project which brings together people affected by poverty in Salford with professional writers. No-one makes you feel. You feel your own feelings They are inside you The feelings belong to you.

You and I

DICTIONARY
you       |yoō|
pronoun [ second person singular or plural ]
1 used to refer to the person or people that the speaker is addressing : are you listening? | I love you.
• used to refer to the person being addressed together with other people regarded in the same class : you Australians.
• used in exclamations to address one or more people : you fools | hey, you!
2 used to refer to any person in general : after a while, you get used to it.

You make me sick
You make me mad
You always do this
You are very irritating
You are stupid

You make me feel terrible
You make me feel ugly
You make me feel angry
You make me feel sad
You make me feel hopeless

No-one makes you feel.
You feel your own feelings
They are inside you
The feelings belong to you.
Feelings can be triggered by another.

YOU - the word
is not the best word to start a sentence
not the best chance of a positive
interaction
dialogue
discussion
exchange
relationship.

Non verbal communication (NVC),
together with 'you' starting sentences,
(what we are NOT saying
is more powerful than words)
are usually a pointed finger
or table banging
and a screwed up face.
This person is not managing emotions well.

The ' I ' starting sentences however ....
I feel sad that you said that
I feel frustrated
I feel terrible
I feel ugly
I feel angry
I feel sad
I feel hopeless.

You are sharing your feelings here.
You are sharing your unique self,
undressing the soul.
Disclosing feelings
without dumping them on another.

The NVC here is often
palm resting on own chest
or open palms.

'I', the use of 'I',
at the front end of a sentence
is owning those feelings.
Those feelings residing in your gut,
those feelings rising up through the chest,
those feelings desperate to spit out of the mouth,
an act of fight, not flight,
unless you use emotional intelligence.

When we use ' I '
we are managing our emotions
(I don't like the word control because often
feelings are being stifled, locked in, whereas
'managing' feelings means
we are deciding how to communicate
NOT being a reactor.

That skill, called emotional intelligence,
(always developing never fully developed)
nurtures the ability to
manage feelings.
NOT letting them manage you -
and the the resulting
surge up through the chest
the spitting of words
the damaging of relationships
and our own self esteem.
Lingering regrets!

I believe that this small item of
Social and Emotional Learning
can be practiced and
be an additional tool
in the toolbox of life.

A Question.
I want to interact with you
not just give you something to read.

PRACTICE - a couple of quick ones here for you.

Write down a feeling word for each of the Blobs below.
How each is 'feeling'.
Writing the word is better than just internally noting.
Even better to do this with others.
touching EACH Blob makes it even more personal.

That little exercise is cultivating Emotional Literacy -
articulating feelings.

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL

I love this picture - I was there leading the Rolling Magazine at the Greenbelt Festival back-in-the-day.
It was group games and other wild non-stop activities of deepness and fun.
This was GROUP-HUG time and this group spontaneously crouched down to HUG
to ensure the one BHP in a wheelchair was included ... love it love IT !!
