When we were in Reims France last week-end hmmmmm
Joy bought the French Vogue Magazine - not to read it but look at the pictures.
That is not a sarcastic remark. Being in the Fashion business - she studies all the catwalk stuff because the designs from the glossy mags will end up on the high street.

Shorts, not too short, worn over thick tights is the winter look. Joy was swinging this style in France. In summer the shorts will remain but without the tights ...... not for me I will add!!

BUT ........ as bonus ........... was a free CD with the Vogue magazine.
It was The Gotan Project which I raved about a few days ago. It is most excellent music - the last album that is. I think it is pretty good for all humans - not just my taste - that is if you like something different - a bit up beat - unique.
'La Revancha Del Tango' is the name of the last LP...... that title alone excites me.
The free CD Joy gave me was a single track off the next LP due out in April called :: 'Differente'
There is also a beautiful 11 minute film of the making of the album. Big orchestra stuff. Experimental - up beat TANGO!
What else do we need as the soundtrack of our life?

CONFESSION ::
I went to the home of YaYa - posh accents and duffle coats ...... not only that - I went to a Rugby Union ground ........ sorry for even saying those swear words. Joan and me were at 'Twickenham Stoop' the home of Harlequins.

You see - well over 100 years ago the Miners and working people could not afford to have time off work due to playing Rugby - the injuries you know. The players and the clubs wanted to go semi-professional hmmmmmm said some of the duffle coats said (imagine a few marbles in mouth) "this is a volunteer sport and we will not be stigmatised by such things as playing for money! (Oh - I just found a £100 roll of notes in my shoe - thank you rich daddy) we will not play for money - ya"

So the Northern Union became Rugby League, began to pay these part time professionals - reduced the number of players on the field to 13, to make it a quicker game and ....... wow - non-stop action. If you watch the sport - the rules have been changed to suit the spectators. When there is an injury the games rolls on and the human damage is attended to without stoppage - unlike the Union game and all those 'actors' called football players.

Interesting that yesterday a new team came into the Super League. Les Catalans who played and beat Wigan, a famous but inferior team to the Saints, St.Helens my hometown, team. The French game started in 1934 but during the war the Vichy, right wing, government had all it's funds confiscated and the professional sport was banned. Only Rugby League felt the blow because even the French amateur Rugby League, which I played for many years (until I got old so started to play Rugby Union - a much more 'rest awhile' game!) was banned too!

So we have had a history of being the minority - working class sport. To me this game of Rugby League is like Lancashire Hot Pot, Mushy Peas, Glass Making Factories and other such cultural influences. Joking aside - there has been active prejudice over many years.

So there we were - Joan and me....... out on the Twickers town ....
We visited a wee 'home made' cafe and discovered that the only meal of the day was 'off''. When the jacket potatoes were off too - we marched out and went to a wee French Restaurant and enjoyed a good Twickers meal before watching a fab game - we won 16-40.

It was a long day out from East to far out West London - but loveditlovedit .......

Ann-Sheila is in Miami now and Joy-Sheila flys tomorrow ...... this is Joy at work in Miami when she went in January.( 3rd from left.)

She did a a commercial with one of the top Rugby players yesterday. Thats what she does - style the humans for the camera. Sometimes it is for a supermarket commercial and the humans just need to be styled like we would dress when out shopping - but that little extra to make us the viewer identify with them ......

.... tonight the Rugby League season starts and the first game is on TV TONIGHT.

Saturday Joan and me trip over to W London to see our team 'Come on the Saints' play against Harlequins RL. It is a big game and there will be lots of supporters and press there ......... wave!
