If I were to go back
Back to a road
Back to a road on the way to a city
Would I cheer and dance for a gentle man riding by?
Would I shout Hosanna and wave a palm in joy
For a man proclaimed as King?
Or would I tell the man “Turn back” and then
take that road myself into the city in his place?
Would I take the place of the man?

If I were to go back
Back to a garden
Back to a garden called Gethsemane
Would I stand in the night and watch over a gentle man
Would I listen to His prayer and hold Him as He wept
Would I hold back the one who betrayed Him with a kiss
Would I cling to the man and fight off the soldiers
And tell them of His love, his grace
And then hand myself over instead?
Would I take the place of the man?

If I were to go back
Back to a courtyard
A courtyard with jostling crowd, baying for blood
Would I stand with them and listen to the accusations and say…. nothing?
Would I watch the gentle man surrender without fight,
Or would I scream of His innocence.
Would I take the beating, the humiliation,
Would I take the crown of thorns and put it on my head
Would I take the cross from Him, and carry it instead?
Would I take the place of the man?

If I were to go back
Back to a hill
A hill with a gentle man on a cross
Would I listen to him forgiving all.
Would I watch the Saviour take my pain, my punishment, my death
If I were to go back
Would I fall on my knees and scream ‘It should be me!’
Would I raise my hands to the Christ
And shout my praise, my thanks, my love
Would I cry out to all who would listen of the joy and peace that is mine
Because this man took my place.

.... and the voice said;
" Hello Pip - I am still on the street" ......
....... an instant recognition
but not the name ..... grrr

We walked on together and he and me
had warm words with some passion;
"Where are you sleeping then.....?" I asked.
"Under the stairs at Tesco" he said -
"but I will have to move ...... too cold"
We parted as I reached my destination and I said;
"You are a great human"

Reflection ......
because the video is running through my mind -
on repeat.

Human around
I am amongst
They are
Warm
Outgoing
Open
Interacting to me without request.
Valuable
Precious
Potential

Hope
Loved
God loved
As valuable as any other .....

I and you
cannot accommodate everyone we see
Everyone home-less
(the theme of Greenbelt Festival
this year is
HOME

BUT
we can offer a home
We can in the heart

Only when we meet humans do we really change
TV Images are great but
the human interaction
When eye meets eye
Warm exchanges
Valuing
That is most beautiful .......

Walking down the street can be most beautiful .......
Eyes can light up another soul .....

Must never put the video on 'pause' ...

When God gave out brains
I thought he said trains
So I missed mine.
When God gave out looks
I though he said books
So I did not want any.
When God gave out chins
I thought he said gins
So I ordered a double.
When God gave out noses
I thought he said roses
So I ordered a large red one.
When God gave out legs
I though he said kegs
So I ordered two big ones.
Boy am I in a mess!

A woman is sitting on the veranda with her husband and she says,
"I love you."

He asks, "Is that you or the wine talking?"
She replies, "It's me............. talking to the wine."
