Solitary Confinement is a punishment in Prisons and I hope nowhere else .....

It is a punishment because we all need recognition.
We all need to receive this from other humans.
A unit of recognition is sometimes called 'a stroke'.

I receive recognition fro Joan.
Zig offers me little - he never sits on my knee and the most I get is a slight rub of his body against my shins.
Zig is our cat.
Beautiful non-human being!

The Sheilas give me lots - daily phone calls and texts.
Fathers Day seems to happen often.

Recognition can be the slightest acknowledgement that we exist.
A glance, a raise of the eyebrow, the smallest of smiles.
Verbals can be good - but only 7% of communication is verbal.
Recognition can be at the top end of the scale when we are touched physically.
Children and animals do not develop, when they are young, unless they have recognition and especially touch.

I get asked to run Training Courses to help 'build a team' than any other.
We all need other - even though as adults we move away from touch, sadly, and make do with inferior forms of giving recognition.
We are more fulfilled when we work as a team than working alone.

We all need other humans to recognise we exist.

There is positive and negative recognition.

If we know - feel - believe that we are loved;

- by at least one human person
or
- by a Creator God

It seems to me that we are much more able to offer positive recognition than the other stinky option.

Have a think about this ............. I am trying to work it out.

Questions to another person is an item of recognition ............... questions say that "I am asking this question because I am interested in you and what sort of concerns/ideas/life issues you have".

Some humans have an enormous incapacity to bring to being warm and a valuing human person.

I want to dig this thought more as I become .......
