A slight change of plan at Apple, the regular night discussing theology and technology in London. This Wednesday, they'll be hosting Duncan Fairfax, an academic from Goldsmiths University on the intriguing subject "Jesus Is My Death Star". Here's a bit more about the subject…

Duncan will explore the embedded messianic properties in our technologies, through the thinking of Heidegger, Nancy, Derrida and John Caputo. As he notes: "I will suggest that the messianic quality is not aimed at the revelation of some ultimately ineffable God, Spirit, or ‘Geist,’ but about the 'in-finitization of sense', which points us to the incalculable nature of the plurality of our existence."

Duncan trained in philosophy, before switching to architecture and design history and theory, and is currently researching around our understanding of nature through neuropharmacology.

The event is free, and invites participants to make the most of the excellent food and drink offered by the Betsey Trotwood in Farringdon. The Apple blog is here, and there's a Facebook page and Twitter feed if that suits you…
