Flags and Bunting for Greenbelt 2011

Making Cheltenham Racecourse our home for the festival weekend is made much easier through the hard work, creativity and diligence of the Site Vibing team – those talented individuals who come together to turn the site from concrete and grass, to colour and festivity.

And now, the Site Vibing team are turning their eyes to 2011, with an opportunity for you to get involved with making bunting and flags to make the site even more lovely.

Site Vibing co-ordinator Saga Arpino has bundled up some fabric ready for people to make into bunting and simple flags.

FLAGS – Saga is planning to add 220 new flags to the beautiful rainbow of flags seen last year, to fill the grandstand with colour, and make the rainbow visible from across the racecourse. The flags measure 1.2m by 0.8m, and need to be hemmed on four edges. Saga has already cut the fabric to size, so this is a simple job for those with a sewing machine and a few hours to spare – last year, ten flags could be made in one hour, so we're looking for six people to offer four hours of sewing – email vibing@greenbelt.org.uk. To see images of what you'll be adding to, click here or here.

BUNTING – We have a staggering 1.2km of bunting, but we can always use more! We're looking for more people to take bundles of fabric, or to host a day of bunting making in their church or community. Contact the Site Vibing team if you are able to help with this. Again, it's a simple sewing job, following a pattern, and the results are truly lovely as these pictures show.

The Site Vibing team can be contacted via vibing@greenbelt.org.uk, or through the Greenbelt office.

Thanks for helping to make our site a wonderful place to dream of home!
