If you read the small print you can see that just one street in this industrial northern town, Fry Street, Parr, St Helens, Lancashire - my childhood street, had a history of street parties and gathering - here mentioning 150 strong.
These were the days when people were so pleased to be alive, one year after the war ended in 1945, and wanted to be together.
