The Big Brew for Fairtrade Fortnight

bigbrew

Start: February 28, 2011

End:March 13, 2011

Venue: Various Nationwide, United Kingdom

Fairtrade Fortnight this year takes place from Monday 28th February to Sunday 13th March, with events planned the length and breadth of the country.

Traidcraft are running an initiative titled The Big Brew, which aims to help "individuals, churches, schools and workplaces to host a fair trade event during Fairtrade Fortnight 2011".

If you're planning to host an event, there's recipes, information packs and resources at the Big Brew website. Even if you aren't planning to host your own event, there's a list of all the events taking place under the Big Brew umbrella, so you can find one near you.

And as with all Traidcraft initiatives, there's an important message behind the fun:

In the UK we can only produce 12% of the honey we love to eat. Think of the difference we could make if all the honey we imported was fairly traded.

Traidcraft is helping beekeepers in Africa and Latin America build better futures for themselves and their communities. By holding a Big Brew you’ll be supporting this valuable work – and creating a buzz around fair trade!

So make those plans, and get ready for a jolly big brew!
