I was really shocked last week.
Upset even.
Totally unexpected.

It was announced that Gilles Peterson was being axed from BBC Radio 1.
He is at the cutting edge of all things new about music.
Broad range/as futuristic as you can get
yet he has been sacked, so it seems, because the nee to have younger DJs
stink

If yo click this way often
you will know I delight in his music.
I capture and have done for ten years.
I have a hard drive full of his two hour programs
Plus his albums with a wide range of artistes.

The beeb have replied to my complaint
upset but not nasty - never

Developing new DJ talent is a key part of this and we believe the changes to the schedule will ultimately strengthen the overall range and depth of our specialist music offering. There will be new programmes for Skream & Benga, Toddla T, Charlie Sloth and Friction; and we will also introduce another four new presenters to the station in early 2012 as part of the In New DJs We Trust show.

We do understand your disappointment regarding Gilles Peterson’s departure. He has enjoyed a fantastic 13 years with the network, but we felt it was the right moment to give an opportunity to one of the next generation of up and coming DJs. He is currently in talks with other BBC Networks about future projects, so this is not necessarily the last time you will be able to hear him on the BBC.

We hope that this explains some of our thinking regarding the changes. We’re sorry you’re not happy with them, but hope you will at least give the new presenters a chance once they start in April 2012 before making a final decision about them.
I remain upset.
My Wednesday morning will become and empty space
a naked soul suffering musical and emotional deprivation.
hmmmmmm
