Namone, Brick Lane, Shampan, Bangladesh Singh stories.

I listen to my music wherever I am and a lot when I am travelling - through my earbuds/iPhone and ..............you may know that I capture about 50 hours of music each week. Most of my music is radio. Not the daytime stuff but late night and specialist DJ's who keep my ears washed out and my soul refreshed.
The odd album I get I usually become disinterested because I like the newness and freshness of radio DJ's pushing the boundaries. LOVEIT!

I have got to like Namone (BBC 6Music which has great programmes) who does a regular radio show featuring lots of beats/electronic ....... don't let that put you off! The stereo-type music labeled 'electronic' is rapid dance music. Not at all. I like house music but electronic stuff is far more broadband from that and, my thinking, that it is far more experimental and stretching than guitar led bands - generally speaking.

And last night I met Mr Singh for a curry.
It was great because, as I sat in Brick Lane with this great man of wisdom, I had a phone call from my mate Dave in N Ireland because he just knew where I would be.
In fact we were sat at the same table as they last time WE had met there.
Come on Dave - get yourself over here again to we can do a curry catchup.
Or get me a gig in Belfast - I have not worked in the north for ages.

How would you like to have a curry with me in Brick lane hmmmmmm
(the hmmmm is for you - not the curry!!)

Yes met with Mr Singh.
I love it.
He has a job - the first in 5 years - I rejoice with him.
I have a fondness for carpenters !

I introduced him to the staff in the 'Indian'. But of course they are all from Bangladesh
So I tell them how Mr Singh fought with the Indian Army (in 1971 I think)
against Pakistan who were invading their little country.

They remember the 25th March in their history when they were invaded.
Fascinating watching the interactions between two cultures
(three if you count me).
They have it all as a point in history - he has it written on his soul.
He lost friends and saw serious action there. On behalf of Bangladesh.

LOVE it.

The war pitted East Pakistan and India against West Pakistan, and lasted over a duration of nine months. It witnessed large-scale atrocities, the exodus of 10 million refugees and the displacement of 30 million people.
