Final Greenbelt 2013 headliner announced: Duke Special with band and the Greenbelt Orchestra
The final day of Greenbelt 2013 will climax with a very special set from Duke Special, complete with his band and the wonderful Greenbelt Orchestra. This perfect mix of artistry, invention and Greenbelt collaboration is guaranteed to create a party atmosphere for all to enjoy as we celebrate forty years of the festival, and look forward to many more…
A long-term friend of the festival, Duke Special is sure to provide the perfect note on which to close this year’s 40th festival. (His most recent album, Oh Pioneer, was self-released in 2012.)
Duke Special joins Amadou & Mariam (Friday), Lemar (Saturday), and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (Sunday) as the festival music headliners, with support from Courtney Pine, London Community Gospel Choir, Eliza Carthy & Jim Moray, Thea Gilmore and many others across the weekend.
We’re also pleased to announce Peter Rollins in the Talks programme; a Mainstage slot by Boxes, the solo project of Athlete bassist Carey Willets; acoustic sets from Eliza Carthy and Thea Gilmore in the Performance Cafe; and Ben Cantelon in the Youth programme.
