Part Time Welfare Support Officer – Ealing, West London

Two Year Fixed Term Contract - 16 Hours per week
£8725.15 per annum

West London YMCA’s mission is to transform young lives. Our supported housing projects provide accommodation and a route to independent living for vulnerable young people across the West London area. We are currently looking for a Welfare Support Officer for our Foyer project in 25 St Mary’s Road, Ealing.
The role of Welfare Support Officer is a key element in the holistic support we provide for our residents. You will be responsible for assisting residents to claim and maintain their welfare benefits. The successful candidate will support residents to ensure benefits claims are made in time, verify claim forms, and liaise with colleagues and the local authority to ensure a joined up approach.
Educated to “A” level standard or equivalent and able to demonstrate good numeracy, IT and communication skills, you will have experience of working with vulnerable young people, knowledge of Welfare benefit claims such as housing and other DWP benefits. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail is a must.

As a senior member of the YMCA's youth and community team you will manage and lead the development of projects, in various neighbourhoods of Bolton to meet the social education needs of children, young people and their families.
Using outreach, detached, and building based community settings you will further develop the partnership with St. Andrews Methodist church, in Hall ith Wood and surrounding areas to develop a neighbourhood base in the area from which the YMCA, in partnership with the church and other agencies, can support local people to address the social and economic challenges facing their community.
You will be a JNC nationally qualified youth worker with a commitment to the Christian ethos of the YMCA. You will have strong youth and community work skills, as 60% of this post is face to face work, and have experience of managing staff and volunteers.
