Appy now?

The 2019 Festival App is now available. And, like last year, it's absolutely free. We've also updated our website lineup pages too, so you can see show info – as well as being able to filter by day, genre and venue.

But please don't plan it all! Because Greenbelt is a festival. And a festival is best when there's space for surprise and serendipity. The gaps in your schedule will be where the magic happens.

There will be some things not quite right or missing from this first issue (that we will correct in the coming days). But there are also things that we are deliberately not including. Because we want you to discover things – installations, galleries, sports, pop-up performance and walkabout, crafting, traders, workshops.

Download the iOS App from the Applestore here
Download the Android App from GooglePlay here
And browse our website lineup pages for the full monty here

Are we there yet?

For those used to making the journey to our beautiful Boughton House site, you'll need to pay extra attention as you get close to site because Kettering roadworks mean we need to bring you off the A14 at junction 12 (not 14). Once you've left the A14 (at junction 12!), just follow the AA festival signs. This is all in the essential information here.

What to bring (and what not to bring)

Essential info should tell you everything you need to know about what to bring and what to leave at home. But here's a natty little graphic to give you some pointers too. Here's how you can be part of the festival – in all sorts of ways. And if you're a first-timer, our trustee Molly has blogged about her first time last year – and about how everything really will be OK.

Visual arts

We've not said too much about our visual arts programme for this year, but we've been working really hard on it and we're really excited by what's in store, including:

Friends of the Festival

One of the central ideas inspiring this year's festival communion service is rebellion and celebration in the face of Empire; the subversion of a seemingly inconsequential event in the margins that changed history (the Christmas story). Our friends at Anthony Collins Solicitors (who help us bring the Exchange programme together each year), have blogged about 'Enterprise, empire and ego: the road to extinction' here.
“Naivety can be a beautiful thing in the right proportion.”

Michael Leunig interviewed on BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live on 8 August (start at 24 minutes)
