Incredible opportunity for young people to be part of an overseas volunteering programme

We have an incredible opportunity for young people to be part of our new overseas volunteering programme: the International Citizen Service (ICS).

We have places available for young people to go away this April so we need your help to spread the word today! Together we can help YMCAs transform the lives of vulnerable young people around the world.

18-25? Challenge yourself to change our world with ICS

ICS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go overseas, experience another culture, gain new skills and make a difference in some of the world’s poorest communities.
  • Anyone aged 18-25 is welcome to apply - you don't need cash, skills or qualifications to take part
  • Placements are 10-12 weeks, leaving throughout the year. You can apply today.
  • Young people have the opportunity to work in YMCA projects in Bangladesh, Guatemala, Togo, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Liberia. UK young people will be working on projects related to improving health, skills for work, preparing for emergencies and improving youth justice systems
  • When young people return home they are helped to raise awareness of global poverty in the YMCA and their wider community
  • Everyone has a small fundraising target, but we provide lots of expert advice!
Our first project begins in April 2014, so apply now to be one of our first volunteers! ICS is run by a team of volunteering organisations, so although we encourage you to apply to volunteer with Y Care International we can’t guarantee you will be matched with us.

23 and over? Be a Team Leader

We also have a special role for a small number of volunteers to be Team Leaders, for those aged 23 or over. We are looking for people who can lead and motivate young people, with good experience and strong organisational and communication skills.

Apply to be a Team Leader by simply completing the same online form and ticking the relevant box. There is also a potential for Team Leaders to stay longer than three months to support another team of volunteers.
