I think this is FANTASTIC - YMCA IN ACTION

GETTING YOUNG PEOPLE BACK ON TRACK

05 February 2014

YMCA London South West is excited to announce that we are working in partnership with the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust to deliver ‘Get On Track’, a personal development programme aimed at young people aged 16-25 who are not in education, employment or training.

The Get On Track programme creates opportunities for disadvantaged young people and helps them work towards sports participation, training, education, volunteering and employment. It also helps to increase their confidence and self-belief, develop communication and teamwork skills and build future aspirations.

A major goal of the programme is to encourage a positive attitude towards physical exercise. This is done by trying out different sports and physical activities with an aim to form sporting habits for life.

Some of the experiences to be included in Get On Track this year are a visit to the Arsenal Football ground, interview training, a community challenge and indoor climbing.

The young people get travel expenses, activities and lunch included in the programme, as well as an end of programme bursary to support further training, employment, volunteering or sporting opportunities. Additionally there is further support for a year after the programme.
