...............

Alongside Bugge Wesseltoft my other favourite Norwegian musician is Nils Petter Molvaer, Norwegian trumpeter, composer and producer of the stunning new album ‘Streamer’. That is two Norwegians - and I have a few great beautiful friends over there too. In fact I love em.

Nils Petter Molvaer maintains a reputation as a musician at the cutting edge, and it’s easy to feel why when you listen. His influences span as far and wide as Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Sabbath through to Miles Davis, Brian Eno and Bill Laswell. Add to this the inspiration from an earlier generation of Scandinavian jazz musicians including Jan Garbarek. I have never seen him live - yet.

Experimentation with electronics, samplers and programmed rhythms are pivotal to the music of Nils Petter Molvaer. A 'trumpeter' sounds old hat. Bugge plays the keys and he isn't either. Nils takes giant strides into the darker rhythms of electronica and breakbeats to create pulsing moody vibes ........ hmmm - you can see why I like.

It is another album on my must get list.

New in the mac and plugged via iPod since Greenbelt are;

Creamfields - Paul Oakenfold at his best. Great new dance version of U2/beautiful day.
Blue Nile - they do a CD every 10 years - this one called 'High'
Kanye West - The College Dropout - hip hop and I must say this man is gifted.
Beautifully Human - by Jill Scott in case you have missed my surges of enthusiasm.

I think there are other so I must recommend one or two - no, I never recommend, I just say what I like. (whisper - jill scott!)
My end of year 'selection box' will be a cracker this year. You can order it from me for free when I do it between Christmas and New Year - and hey hey, we are going to Brugge for New Year ........... chocolate and cigars - amongst other treats!

Ramblings of a stumbling beautiful human here ................ forgive me .............
